In Case You Were Curious

LOLiDE was founded by L.L. Devine, a talented jewelry architect full of ideas for unique and alternative designs. They’ve been making things with their hands since they can remember. L.L. was raised in semi-rural Virginia by Depression-era grandparents. Their grandfather – never one to throw anything away – kept what they referred to as the “junk room.” This was L.L’s supply closet, the place where they got all of the materials for their many projects. From leftover rug remnants and house paint, to old pieces of tire.  While they now have access to more tools and materials, they still find that sometimes the greatest catalyst for creativity is circumscription.

L.L’s work uses a combination of organic and industrial shapes with a sculptural focus. With a background in printmaking and a love of architecture, they have come to see jewelry-making as a type of sculpture that allows them to incorporate both these aesthetics. They try to make every creation a small work of art, even down to the clasps and ear wires which are designed to add to the overall beauty of each piece.

L.L. finds inspiration in the intersection of light and dark, order and chaos, natural vs. industrial —  things that connect their Virginia childhood with their new home in Seattle. They try to reflect this feeling of time, movement, and unexpected beauty in their designs; a marriage of their past and present.
